What we collect
The app collects nothing for us on its own. ThreeCode runs no servers that Pod Performer connects to, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code from anyone.
A few things can reach us, and the app never sends any of them on its own:
- If you email us, including with Report… in Brainstorm Buddy, we receive your email address and whatever you send. We use your message only to answer you, and we don't share it. We keep an email only as long as we need it to help you, and delete it sooner if you ask. Our support mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail).
- If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass us crash reports and aggregate statistics about Pod Performer through App Store Connect. That is Apple's feature, under Apple's privacy policy, and we use those reports only to find and fix problems.
- App Store ratings, reviews and reports. Apple shows developers the ratings and reviews people post, and reports on downloads and sales, under Apple's privacy policy. We use them to see how the app is doing and to improve it.
These web pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. We add no analytics or tracking to them; GitHub may keep its own server logs under its privacy policy.
Where your data goes when it leaves your device
None of the following goes to us.
- iCloud. When iCloud Drive is available to the app, Pod Performer keeps your episodes there, in your own iCloud account, under Apple's privacy policy. Otherwise they stay on your device. Either way, you'll find them in the Files app under Pod Performer.
- Live sessions. A live session lets co-hosts and guests in the same room follow your rundown on their own devices. It uses Apple's built-in networking to find devices nearby or on the same Wi-Fi network, and asks for Local Network access to do so.
- Before the show starts, and again after it finishes, your device automatically invites devices nearby or on the same Wi-Fi network that are looking for a session; while the show runs, you choose whom to invite. On Pod Performer Lite it invites one device at a time, and the next one when that seat comes free. Your device keeps hosting until you end the session or quit Pod Performer. Each invitation shows your show's title and the name you host under. Each person decides whether to join. Once the show has started, a device that drops out can come back in without its owner being asked again.
- When a device joins, it receives your show's list of parts, who has joined, the show's clock (including the words-per-minute setting its times are planned from), and whether the host has Pod Performer Pro, so a guest's prompter can play a long episode.
- When the show starts, the episode you have open (its rundown, its scripts and any cues you've marked for everyone) and the show's position go to every device in the session, encrypted. Your own notes, and the words of any block you mark Host only, are not sent: guests get those blocks' titles and times only.
- When you join a session, the host and the others in it receive the name and part you choose, where you move the script to, and any changes you make as a co-host.
- Each device also uses an identifier so a session can recognise a device that reconnects. It comes from the identifier your iPad or iPhone assigns to our apps, stays the same while Pod Performer is installed, and devices nearby, or on the same Wi-Fi network, can see it while you host or join. It is not your name, your Apple ID or an advertising identifier.
- An AI language model you bring (Pod Performer Pro). If you add one from a link, whether you paste the link or tap one of the app's Suggested Models (those are huggingface.co links), the app contacts the site in the link, and any site it redirects to, to check the file. When you tap Download to This Device, it downloads the file from there, following the same redirects. For huggingface.co links, the app also asks Hugging Face for its details, including its licence. Those sites see these requests the way any website sees a visit.
- Things you send yourself. Sharing or exporting an episode, copying text, and opening a link in your browser all go where you send them.
- The App Store. The app checks with the App Store for your purchase when it opens, and when you buy Pod Performer Pro or restore purchases. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details.
Brainstorm Buddy
Brainstorm Buddy runs on your device. It thinks with Apple Intelligence or with an AI language model you bring yourself (the app calls either one a “brain”), and it needs no internet connection to answer.
Your conversations with the Buddy are saved on your device, in Pod Performer's own storage, and they don't sync between your devices. Each conversation also keeps a copy of its episode's brief: your rundown and, as far as they fit, your scripts. It keeps that copy even with Episode brief turned off, when the Buddy doesn't read it, and turning the brief off doesn't delete the conversation. If you have iCloud Backup turned on, your device's backup includes them; that copy sits in your own iCloud account, and we never see it. Chats is at the top of the Buddy, in any episode. You can delete any conversation there, including the one that's open, or delete the open one with Clear Chat (the eraser). The Buddy, and Chats with it, shows only while the device has a brain. So on a device without Apple Intelligence, delete your conversations before you delete the last AI language model you brought; otherwise they stay on the device, out of sight, until you add a brain again or delete the app.
To report a reply, touch and hold it and choose Report…. That opens an email to us with the reply as you see it, the name of the AI language model that wrote it, and the app's version; you read it and send it yourself, and nothing is sent otherwise. A report is an email like any other: what's written above about emailing us applies to it.
AI language models you bring in, by link or from the Files app, are kept on this device in the Files app, under On My iPad (or On My iPhone) › Pod Performer › AI Models, where other apps that run the same kind of file can bring them in without downloading them again. They're large and can be downloaded again, so they're left out of your iCloud backup; after a restore you add them again, and deleting Pod Performer deletes them. If a show kept on this device, rather than in iCloud Drive, is already named “AI Models”, they're kept in Pod Performer's own storage instead, still on this device and still left out of your backup, and the app's Settings says so.
For huggingface.co links, the app shows the licence Hugging Face lists before you download, when it lists one. An AI language model you bring comes with its own licence: whether it may be used for your show, and for what you earn from it, is between you and its authors.
Microphone and camera
Pod Performer does not use your microphone or your camera, and it does not record audio or video.
Permissions
Pod Performer asks for one permission, Local Network, which live sessions use. If you decline, everything else in the app works as before. You can change it at any time in your device's Settings app, under Privacy & Security › Local Network.
Sharing with third parties
We don't sell or share anyone's data, and the app has no third-party partners that receive it. Its one piece of third-party code, llama.cpp, runs the AI language models you bring, on your device; it makes no network connections and sends nothing to anyone.
The other companies involved are Apple (iCloud, the App Store, and any analytics you choose to share), the sites you download an AI language model from, GitHub (which hosts these pages) and, if you email us, Google (which hosts our mailbox). Each works under its own terms and privacy policy. Google, which hosts our mailbox, handles the emails you send us, and we rely on it to protect them at least as well as this policy does.
Keeping and deleting your data
Here is how to delete your episodes, conversations and AI language models, and what you've sent us:
- Episodes: delete them in the app (swipe, then confirm; there's no undo) or in the Files app. Deleting an episode kept in iCloud Drive removes it from every device that uses that iCloud Drive. If your episodes are kept on this device rather than in iCloud Drive, deleting the app deletes them too. Deleting an episode doesn't delete its Buddy conversations: each one keeps its own copy of the brief, on the device where it's saved, and stays in Chats until you delete it.
- Buddy conversations: delete them from Chats, or the open one with Clear Chat, before you delete the last AI language model you brought (see Brainstorm Buddy above). Deleting the app also removes them from this device.
- AI language models you brought: delete them in the app's Settings, under Brainstorm Brain. Deleting the app also removes them from this device.
- Local Network access: turn it off in your device's Settings app at any time.
- Emails you sent us: we delete them when you ask.
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email us.
Children
Pod Performer collects nothing on its own, from children or from anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, we will update this policy before that version ships and change the date at the top of this page.
